I don’t write about movies I don’t like, so I don’t write about too many movies. But this week was just phenomenal. Seriously. First: A Prophet (Un Prophète). Jacques Audiard’s prison/mob epic (2 1/2 hours) was f-ing amazing. The film follows an 18 yr old Algerian and his ascent in the French prison system over 6 years. It won the Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes and was nominated for Best Foreign Language at the Oscars (but lost, blah). I am serious: watch this movie.
